The Caral Archaeological Zone, through the Community Relations Unit of the Ministry of Culture of Peru, implements and promotes its technical-productive and artistic workshops. These spaces are geared towards strengthening cultural identity, fostering gender equality, and improving the family economy of local populations within the Caral Civilization area.
Revitalization of the Musical Tradition of the Origins of Civilization
This workshop, “Revitalizing the Musical Tradition of the Origins of Civilization,” proposes an experiential approach to the musical heritage of the origins of America, recovering sounds, instruments, and experiences inspired by archaeological research developed at the archaeological sites of the Caral Civilization.
Participants learn about and practice with instruments of ancient origin, as well as explore basic principles of musical language through group activities and creative exercises. Each session becomes a space for encounter, expression, and connection with the cultural heritage of the region.
More than just learning music, the workshop seeks to strengthen sociocultural identity, social self-esteem, community integration, and the appreciation of the archaeological heritage of the Caral Civilization as a legacy that continues to inspire new generations.
